About Buddy’s Clubhouse

Buddy & Steven Spiegelhalter
Buddy & Terri Spiegelhalter

Since 1998, Melvin “Buddy” Spiegelhalter and his wife Terri have proudly been serving top-quality dinners in Dubuque’s North End District. Buddy & Terri took over this neighborhood hotspot in January 1998 and reopened the restaurant as Buddy’s Clubhouse on March 6th of that year.

For many years prior to 1998, this little restaurant was owned & operated by Buddy’s Uncle Bob. Buddy used to help out at night while he was working during the day at the Dubuque Packing Company.

While at The Pack, Buddy became quite the skilled meat-cutter. A skill he developed into an artform that he managed to pass along to his son – Steven Spiegelhalter… So that’s why even today, we insist carrying on Buddy’s legacy – and building on family legacy – by continuing to hand-cut all the restaurant’s meats.

Sadly in 2018, Buddy passed away…

However, Buddy’s legacy & tradition continues with Terri managing bar & kitchen operations with assistance from her son, Steven Spiegelhalter.

View the Buddy’s Clubhouse History page for more information.

Only USDA Choice Grade beef is used. It is never frozen and is hand cut the same day it is to be served.
